Our logo - three stars for North-West Mecklenburg

Three sails spell out the typeface of North-West Mecklenburg. The sails symbolise the location on the shores of the Baltic Sea. The right curved edge describes the sail that is taking up the wind, the direction pointing towards the right symbolises positive dynamism.

At the same time, the three seals can be compared to a crown, describing what is special about our administrative district. These three sails signify: "three stars for North-West Mecklenburg". The colours of the sails were chosen to be blue, yellow and red - Mecklenburg's three colours - because the cradle of Mecklenburg as a whole, Mecklenburg village, is located in the region of North-West Mecklenburg. Blue and yellow also reflect the colours of the coat of arms that the former administrative district of North-West Mecklenburg had, while red symbolises Wismar, a Hanseatic Town and now this district's administrative seat. In combination, they form the colours of the new administrative district, now gathering greater speed under its three sails.

The inscription "Landkreis Nordwestmecklenburg" provides a firm foundation for the sails. At the same time, it symbolises the body of the ship bearing the sails. The light-blue wave lends emphasis to this administrative district's overriding point of reference - its Baltic Sea location. The way that it is presented, with frills and a "chuckle", conveys friendliness, lightness, authenticity and naturalness - all of these are core characteristics of our district.
